She plans on eventually joining the ornithology field, the study of birds.
“Hawaiʻi has a lot of birds, and a lot of these birds are endangered,” said Kim. “They’re unique to the islands, you can’t find them anywhere else.”
Her favorite types of birds are birds of prey, such as owls, eagles and hawks.
“I want to study them because the physics of how they fly. … Just their unique traits and how they evolved over thousands of years, it’s just very interesting,” said Kim.
Outside of studying, she loves to read Korean webcomics/manhwa, writing, and collecting types of tea.
Regarding the future, Kim notes that she plans on attending one of the universities within the University of Hawai‘i system.
“But as of now, I found there’s a lot more opportunities that I can find on campus,” said Kim. “I’m very comfortable here.”
