Ahead of this year’s general election, KCC will play host to Honolulu news outlet Civil Beat for “Civil Cafe – Election Trivia”. It will be the first time Civil Beat has sponsored an event at Kapi’olani Community College (KCC), let alone any college campus.
The event will feature a friendly rivalry between KCC students and faculty members. Representing KCC’s Student Congress will be Ish Salameh, Jared Singh, and Christopher Gapas. Representing the Faculty Senate will be Susan Inouye, Lynne Hamada, and Will Jonen.
Students in the audience will also be encouraged to participate. The event format allows for students to use the free app, “Poll Everywhere”, to buzz in answers on their smartphone. After an initial round of questions specific to the audience, student and faculty representatives will face off for the second half of the trivia event. Students in the audience will again have the chance to participate as they may be called upon as “lifelines”.
The event will take place Thursday, October 6, from 3:15 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. in the Lama Library.
