Hailey Rose Flores is a 17-year-old first-year student at Kapiʻolani Community College. She was born and raised on the south side of Talofofo, Guam.
Her grandparents live here, and she came to Hawai’i to live with them and study Kinesiology at the University of Hawaiʻi. She is completing her first two years at KCC before transferring to UHM.
When asked about her Zoom classes, of which she has four this semester, she said, “I’m okay with Zoom but I feel like I get more meaningful interaction with my teacher in person, and I’m able to interact with the other students more.”
Her math 103 class, which is in-person, is her favorite class.
Flores had an interest in the medical field, but by joining sports like basketball, rugby and paddling in high school, she developed a more focused interest in kinesiology. She enjoys going to the beach and hanging out with friends. Soon she will be visiting her family in Guam.
