Kyaren Koh is a 20-year-old student who is currently in her second year at KCC. Koh is majoring in Liberal Arts and will be graduating at the end of this semester. Koh, who is originally from Ibaraki, Japan, moved to Hawaiʻi and is staying with a host family who are friends with her grandfather. She enjoys playing with the children of her host family and during her free time, Koh focuses on improving her photography skills.

“I like taking pictures,” Koh said. “I take pictures mainly of my friends and I have been practicing photography for 3 years.”

Koh’s dream job is working in the film industry and her favorite movie genre is sci-fi or adventure. “Planet of the Apes” is one of her favorite movies.

“I want to make commercials and movies,” Koh said. “I would like to record the parts for those.”

Koh’s friends chose to attend college in Japan and she has not seen them recently. When she moves back to Japan over the summer, Koh said that reconnecting with her friends is what she looks forward to the most. However, while her time in Hawaiʻi comes to a close, Koh said that she will miss playing with her host family as well.
