Nicole Nakagawa is an 18-year-old second-year student who lives in Moanalua. She’s currently undecided in her major and looking towards Nursing or the Radiologic Technology program.
“Nursing is really good, and in Hawaiʻi, they’re like, oh, we need so much more nurses,” Nakagawa said.
She previously studied at University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa for a semester, took a gap semester, then transferred to Kapiʻolani Community College.
“I didn’t like the learning environment,” Nakagawa said of UH. “… There was a lecture, and there were like 400 kids.”
Her plan is to eventually graduate with either degree then work in the medical field, and perhaps continue her studies at University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
Nakagawa currently works at the YMCA. When she isn’t working or studying, she enjoys going to the gym and working on her car, a Subaru BRZ, which she plans to get mods for.
