Mija Wheeler, who is 18 years old, was born and raised in Honolulu. She is pursing a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

“I’ve done robotics for eight years, and I always liked programming, but I wanted to get out from behind the desk so I’m also doing electrical, which kind of lines up the same,” Wheeler said.

She choose Kapiʻolani Community College because she’s a Hawai‘i resident and wants to do all her undergraduate studies here. Then, she plans to finish her degree at Oregon State University.  

“I’m thinking about trying to work my way into environmental sciences/conservational of some sort from using that technology to figure out how maybe what is being used towards our marine conservation,” she said.
