Alexa Quiroz is a 24-year-old student who is studying Global Environmental Science. She moved to Honolulu, Hawaiʻi around 6 years ago from West Palm, Florida, and plans to continue living here in the near future.

“When I lived in Florida, the weather was hot,” Quiroz said. “Though I think it’s comparable to Hawaiʻi at times.”

Quiroz, whose mother worked for a news station, states that it’s a difficult and demanding profession.

“My mom would jump at the opportunity for interviews, so I understand what it’s like to do that. It’s definitely not easy to do,” Quiroz said.

Outside of academics, Quiroz enjoys going to the beach to relax. One of her favorite beaches is Diamond Head Beach Park. While the hike down to the beach is not super enjoyable, the water is worth it.

“It’s not a super busy beach,” Qurioz said. “The only other people there are surfers since it’s a popular surf spot, but you can swim there as well.”
