Kiyomi Sanders is in her first year at KCC majoring in Liberal Arts with plans to eventually transfer to UH Mānoa. Sanders is hoping to double major in Classics and something in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics field.
With finals quickly approaching Sanders is worried about remembering everything for her cumulative exam in Math 135. Her math class is an accelerated course that covers a new section of the curriculum every week. So instead of having one math course over a 16 week semester, her class broke up into two math classes that are 8 weeks each.
Sanders expresses her concerns for exams, not necessarily because of the difficulty, but because of the exhaustion she is feeling as she nears the end of the fall semester.
“I’m not really worried about finals being really hard, I’m more worried about the fact that I’m so burnt out from the whole semester that I’m having a hard time doing really simple things.”

Jamie Nguyen is 21 years old and originally from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. She moved to O‘ahu 3 years ago for school and is currently in her last semester at KCC majoring in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Business. In January, Nguyen will be transferring to UH Mānoa to complete her degree in International Business Marketing.
While at KCC, Nguyen is working on the Board of Student Publications (BOSP) as the secretary. She enjoys her job because the BOSP has given her the opportunity to work in a professional setting while still being in school. She has enjoyed the opportunity to get to talk with students and staff while working on the BOSP and believes that it is helping her reach her future goals.
“It’s taught me a lot about professionalism and how to work professionally. In the BOSP, we not only work with the students, but we also work with the faculty and staff,” Nguyen said. “I’m a people person so I like communicating with people. So being in the BOSP I get to talk to so many students and staff.”
In her free time Nguyen loves watching movies and goes to the theater whenever she can. Recently she watched the newly released movie “Coco” and loved it.
