Word on the Street: If you could have one song play in the background every time you enter a room, what song would play and why?

“‘Truth Hurts’ by Lizzo. I’m dealing kind of with splitting up with a long-term boyfriend and it’s for the best kind of thing. But [the song is] all about being a bad b***h and not dealing with ‘f**k boys’ and it’s really an empowering song. And what I like about her, in general, as an artist she’s body positive; she’s a bigger girl, she doesn’t really show intention to lose weight, and she’s totally cool with showing off her body.”

“‘My Strange Addiction’ by Billie Eilish because that’s my favorite song at the moment, that’s the only thing I can think of [laughs].”

“For me, I think it would be ‘thank u, next’ [by Ariana Grande] because … for me it’s about self-love and stuff like that and just being around people who you care about and just having a great time.”

“Honestly, lo-fi music, that kind of chill music. It helps me relax and it’s really good just for anything like chilling, studying.”

“I say ‘Heartstrings’ by Kolohe Kai. That’s nice, local music.”
