“One show that I have seen a lot, mostly I watch with friends, is ‘I Think You Should Leave’ by Tim Robinson. I like it because it gets funnier the more you watch it. It’s got a very specific brand of humor that I think people will either love or hate. It’s really ridiculous, over the top, really stupid, but it has these quotes or moments that you can reference with people you watch it with that don’t really make sense except within the context of that show.”

“Okay so when I was young, there’s these Godzilla films right, and they were basically what made me into a huge nerd. I borrowed them from the library or Blockbuster, you remember Blockbuster? The older the films were, the worse the costumes were, the worse the special effects were, but it was only for the suits of the monsters. But the buildings, those pretty much stayed pretty good throughout most of it. It was only during the early eras where they look kind of goofy. The most recent films are just CGI and those always look good. I think I spent like $2,000 on figures, and that’s a problem.”

“Mine is ‘I’m Thinking of Ending Things.’ It’s based on a book– a really amazing book. The movie is super pretentious. It’s great if you are into art house films. It’s told by an unreliable narrator, and it’s kind of a break up story. I like it because I really love movies that make you think. After the movie ends, you need to take a couple minutes and be like, ‘What did that mean?’ Every time I rewatch it I end up with new questions or I notice new details. I really connect with the girl, who in the story has no name. Her name keeps on changing and her boyfriend keeps calling her different names and she keeps on changing herself, where it’s like, is she studying physics, is she an artist, what is she, and I love her.”

“The reason I came to this school was because of the TV show ‘Community.’ It’s so good, man. Troy, played by Donald Glover, rides into the library on a bike and he says ‘Good news guys, I spent all my money.’ That was fantastic.”

“If we are talking a movie, definitely a Studio Ghibli film: ‘Princess Mononoke.’ I like how it covers being consumed by hate and also it covers the industrial revolution in Japan and when they kill the forest spirit and they talk about how maybe he’s not really dead, but he’s dead. It’s a really sad but awesome movie, and I like all the characters and I like how the main character is battling not being consumed by hate and he falls in love with a wild insane girl who has a wolf mom. It’s pretty sick. I just love the character design of the forest spirit. And the little ones. The little tree guys.”
